Pics to come…

February 24, 2010

Isn’t that my mantra by now? Well, THIS time I swear! The “pics” in question are of the beach house we stayed at this past weekend. We had such a wonderful weekend. It was delicate perfection in which everything went off without a hitch while remaining as light and sweet as lemon meringue. Things we didn’t do: make it to the beach, buy yummy salt-water taffy from here on the way home. Things we did do: fall in love all over again.  The weather cooperated nicely as Oregon’s annual”Fake Spring”  coincided with our weekend. The house was the perfect size for a couple and so inexpensive! Most remarkably though was the effect going away together had on us. It was our first time (and will definitely not the last)  and both of us were happily shocked at how revitalizing it was. The re-charge we didn’t even realize we needed so badly.

Oregon

Travel advice: If you’re staying on the Oregon Coast (or anywhere in Oregon, really) the only way to go is vacation rentals. They are almost always cheaper and more exquisite than the hotels (which honestly leave a bit to be desired, with this exception). They come in incredible range (rustic, charming, cozy, sprawling, elegant, luxurious) and offer the most delectable amenities (my personal favorite: outdoor hot tubs!! Yay!! Pool tables are great too, especially for large groups).

In fashion news: Spring stuff is out everywhere and even thought I should be catching sales on winter items and wouldn’t even be able to wear anything light and pretty because fake spring is over and real spring wont be here until May. Sigh. I just have to chant “be practical” and look for end of season sales… (notice how “be practical” did not even hint at NOT spending money).

What I’m watching:

Well, because I fell into crazygirl love all over again, and because Spring is around the corner, and because every  I have a creepy/twisted alter ego who hates the rest of me for giving up on the color pink, I’ve been really into this website all week. It is full of beautiful ideas, photos, colors, and couples; plus it is crafty and creative and inspirational. None of that changes the creepiness of my interest though. C’set la vie.

heyyyy it’s me, Cat. Where did you find this rental? I’m looking for a place for the weekend in a few weeks and I’m having a hard time with all of these different rental companies/websites.
    thanks in advance!

Hi Hi! This rental (the Moonset House) is available through Coastal Property Management, but I found it through craigslist. Craigslist is actually what I recommend too, because you get to browse most of the property management places and see what specials they have and where their properties are and choose to your specification. there is an “oregon coast” location option for craigslist and then the “vacation rentals” is under the housing area (here’s the link). Good luck! We had a beautiful time there and are planning to take more trips like this!
